Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you use WatchScanning, we may collect:

  • Account info: your email and display name from Google Sign-In.
  • Uploaded images: your full-resolution watch photos are processed in real-time for the analysis. A small preview image is saved with each scan in your history, and is deleted when you delete the scan or your account.
  • Usage data: anonymous, cookieless page-view statistics through Vercel Web Analytics.
  • Payment data: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To run the watch analysis and give you results.
  • To keep track of your credit balance and transactions.
  • To improve the service over time.
  • To send you updates or respond if you reach out.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a few third-party services:

  • Google Firebase: for login and data storage.
  • Google Gemini API: for the AI analysis. Your images are sent securely and only used for that scan.
  • Stripe: for payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel: for hosting.

4. Data Retention

Full-resolution photos are processed in real-time and not retained. A small preview image is stored with each scan in your history (up to 50 scans per account). Your account info, credit balance, and analysis history are kept as long as your account exists, and you can delete individual scans, your full history, or your entire account at any time. If you submit a review after a scan, your rating, comment and the watch model may be published as described when you submit it; everything else stays anonymous.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR (Norwegian and EU privacy law), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Request data portability.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We don't set any tracking or advertising cookies. Our usage statistics (Vercel Web Analytics) are fully cookieless. Your browser's local storage is used only for functional preferences like theme and language, and signing in with Google uses the strictly necessary session storage required for login to work.

7. Changes to This Policy

We might update this policy from time to time. If you keep using the service after changes are made, that counts as accepting the updated policy.
