Starting in 2005, Rolex began laser-engraving serial numbers on the rehaut—the inner bezel ring between the dial and crystal. Look at the 6 o'clock position. The serial number appears as finely engraved characters visible with good lighting or a magnifying glass. This location eliminates the need to remove the bracelet and makes the serial number harder to tamper with.

Between the Lugs (Pre-2005 and Always)

All Rolex watches have a serial number engraved between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position. To access it, you must remove the bracelet using a spring bar tool.
