No single feature identifies a watch on its own — plenty of divers have a rotating bezel, plenty of chronographs have three sub-dials. It's the combination that's distinctive. A black dial with a specific coronet, a particular font, a cyclops at 3, a fluted bezel and an Oyster-style case points to a small set of references; add a visible model line and it collapses to one. How accurate is an AI watch identifier?

The limits — what an AI identifier can't do

Answer: An identifier only knows what the photo shows and what exists in its reference base. Rare, vintage, one-off or heavily modified watches can come back as a model family rather than an exact reference. It can't see inside a sealed case, so it can't confirm the movement or reliably catch a high-grade "superclone" from photos alone. And a value estimate is a guide, not a formal appraisal.
